Can Your Organization or Congregation Devote One or Two Sundays Per Year to Help the Hungry in Fairfax? Or Donate Grocery Cards?
How Does It Work? Read the Fairfax Woman Magazine article
COVID-19 Update: Britepaths continues to serve local families in need through the Food Bridge Delivery Program. Until further notice, we will serve families by mailing them grocery store gift cards. Our Food Bridge Supporting Organizations are assisting either by donating funds for us to purchase and mail gift cards, or mailing gift cards on their own to assist families on their designated weeks on the Deliver Calendar. We still greatly need organizations to help our families in this capacity! Please contact Christina Garris at firstname.lastname@example.org if your organization can help!
Our Supporting Organizations Make a Big Difference!
Thanks to the hard work and good will of our friends in the community, Britepaths is able to deliver food and other necessary household supplies or grocery gift cards to needy Fairfax County families every other weekend. Many people in our own backyard fall on hard times financially and struggle to afford basic necessities on their limited incomes. Our Food Bridge Program allows us to provide this growing list of families some relief. The purpose of this program, as with all of our programs, is to help stabilize these families until they are again able to maintain self-sufficiency.
Our Food Bridge Supporting Organizations make a real difference for our families by committing to one or more Sundays on our Delivery Calendar throughout the year. They collect sufficient food donations or grocery gift cards to supplement the families' food supply for two weeks and deliver the items to 30 families on the Sunday they have pledged. Grocery cards may be delivered or mailed. Britepaths is happy to mail the grocery cards on an organization's behalf.
Grocery cards allow our families to purchase fresh, healthy food that meets their dietary requirements. Groups interested in helping families in this manner can either collect and deliver the grocery cards or donate through our Food Bridge donation page and we will purchase the cards in bulk at a discount and give the cards to our clients. Individuals are welcome to donate through this page on their own or as part of a group.
The need to provide food assistance to our neighbors in need continues to grow. The current length of time families wait for this critical assistance is more than three months. We rely on our community to make this program work, and we need your help.
Plant the seed today. Talk to your business, congregation or civic group about a wonderful group volunteer project. It's about neighbors helping neighbors.
If your organization can be a Food Bridge Supporter, please contact Christina Garris at email@example.com or 703.273.8829, ext. 444.
